OVERVIEW

Overview

Terry’s an incredibly fun character to play, as he has a bunch of unique skills altogether that creates a passive-aggressive playstyle. First off, let’s talk about his stats and leader skill. His stats are REALLY above average, where his Attack and Defense stat are some of the biggest in the game so far.

For reference: NESTS Kyo has 6062 Attack at level 90 and Nakoruru has 6524 Attack at level 90. This man has three stat boosts to boot, making him crazy strong. Terry’s leader skill improves Yellow fighter attack by 45% and defense by 7%. Defense is sorta eh, and it would be better to overall exchange 50% attack power or 60% attack power for Terry, as he will be requiring any sort of attack stat he needs later on.

Core

Terry’s core passives bring 15% Power Gauge increase, tri-stat increase, Blow-type skill damage increase (affects Power Dunk and Power Charge 2003) and decreases stun by 40%. His general passives are par on the course of being great, as they are basic but effective. His unique passives makes him an amazing character for two different moves. For one, his “new style” passive prevents him from being Frozen/Petrified for one time while also being buffed so that he has super armor and 30% damage mitigation for 5 seconds.

This has a cooldown of 20 seconds but completely makes him amazing in live PvP, where getting hit is inevitable. His second passive makes it so that every party member currently on the field has 20% more attack and 20% more attack speed when Terry has more then one power gauge. You know that Heidern option card? Imagine everyone getting four of them. This makes him crazy in Team Chain Quests entirely, making almost essential while making a team with him, Halloween Blue Mary and Hijikata look absolutely scary.

Skills

Terry has 4 skill effects. Yes, you heard me, four. All of them have ~11 seconds of cooldown and around 700-800% damage averages.

Overall, low-average cooldowns which is phenomenal due to how his skills work. Terry’s Power Dunk has him do a sliding charge before doing a power dunk animation. This skill is absolutely nuts because it OTG’s on the sliding charge part of the skill. If the opponent is downed, they instantly get back up. This also increases Terry’s attack power by 25% for 8 seconds, which is absolutely nuts when combined with Powerwave.

Terry’s Power Charge 2003 already puts him in Ash tier for PVP. The range of the skill isn’t that great to the point of being like NESTS Kyo’s running grab, but Terry has a 3 second invulnerability window the instant he uses it regardless of if it misses or not.

Even if it hits and wastes invulnerability time, it has another effect to compensate: If the attack hits: Enemy cannot avoid for 3 seconds. So if you manage to get to round 2 with 2+ power gauge, you can just fish for a hit, do power dunk and end with powerwave for ridiculous damage. The only problem is that the skill can miss frequently at the wrong elevations (eeeey, just like in the games).

Terry’s powerwave is his projectile. It has weird properties where it will keep going even if it hits an enemy, exploding only after it hits enough times or reaches its max range. This skill has a ridiculous 828% multiplier and gains 50% more damage when Terry’s bar is more then one. In retrospect: Chris’s Hunting Air, a long skill with 14.6 seconds cooldown that is melee range, has 1192%. Terry’s powerwave, a projectile skill with 11.4 seconds cooldown, has 1242% when he has one or more bar.

Terry’s striker skill isn’t really all that, he only has a nerfed version of Powerwave, which isn’t really good compared to other effects. However, there’s also his Striker links: Terry has access to 1 second of cooldown reduction and instant 1-bar when he is with 96 Ryo or XIII Kyo. This is huge as it means Powerwave is instantly 1242% off the get-go. NESTS Kyo adds 7% more damage to boot, which is very much appreciated.

Other characters give him 12% more damage on 2-bars along with mixed effects (96 Andy, 96 Geese) in terms of benefits. With it, 2003 Terry has access to every Terry Special card unlike NESTS Kyo with Kyo cards. This means you can just put Trinity Geyser (or better, Buster Wolf) to make him phenomenal.

Conclusion

Overall? 2003 Terry’s freaking wild for Terry players, as he is probably one of the most fun characters to play in terms of playstyle and the most Terry a character could ever be. His new special is awesome, his skills animations looks cool and his quotes are still as beloved and engrish as it could ever be. If you are having trouble with Arena/League or with Team Chain Quest and have no FES characters, Terry’s actually pretty damn good as a first choice.
