Orochi 97 is a Purple Balanced Fighter that is originally part of the KOF 97 roster.

LEADER SKILL
OVERVIEW
Overview
Orochi’s leader skill is pretty simple: 40% Atk and 20% HP to anyone with the [Orochi] “attribute”. Meaning Shermie, Chris, Yashiro, Iori, Leona, Goenitz and Orochi alongside a few more will get benefits from this. (I say few more because of other characters…)
His normal attack string is ridiculous. To the point it got nerfed TWICE and it still is good. The biggest part is the crescent moon kick upwards, as it launches ANYONE in any position. On the floor? Launched. Standing? launched. In the air? Launched. It’s a ridiculous combo tool that still keeps on giving.
Core
Orochi has a solid core base, Atk buff, HP buff, Stun duration decrease, Penetration value increase and Projectile skill damage increase. His unique passives include also one that gives him up to 25% attack just for attacking 5 times. On top of that, he has 20% Power Gauge Acquisition increase alongside a Power Gauge Regeneration passive that gives 1.6% Power gauge each second.
Once he reaches 40% (or 2 bars) power gauge, he switches from power gauge regeneration to HP regeneration with 1.6% HP per second. This HP regen is ridiculous, being better then anything else in the game due to how consistent HP regen is. It fixes burns that gets past damage immunity, damage reflect and other SNAFU’s inside Arena and League, making him almost essential for just safe passage into high arena/league ranks. However, he’s not really “immune” to anti-perfect defense team strategies (especially with recent development with Tekken option card and Kazuya/Jin).
Skills
Orochi has REALLY HIGH cooldowns. That’s honestly his biggest downfall due to how ridiculous these skills are in general. ~13 seconds of cooldown is a huge YIKES in all honesty. First skill is a projectile skill that basically spawns a multi-hit tower right on the opponent. It’s hard to react to, but also it’s an insane combo tool that just launches grounded opponents immediately up.
This skill 100% made Orochi basically Orochi thanks to how stupid kill confirms can get with this. Second skill is Orochi’s weakest link: It’s a projectile that’s basically useless as anything but a neutral tool. It isn’t good at all in close quarters nor is it good as a combo tool. It is multi-hit and has a slow startup, which is also an extra ouch. It could be a lot better, but honestly… If it was, Orochi would be just way too stupidly good…
Third skill is Orochi’s approach and Anti-Mukai bullshit tool. It’s a charging Damage Immunity + super armor skill that just teleports him forward and drop a multi-hit energy shield. It’s honestly one of the best tools out there in all honesty due to how it can work as a combo tool also.
Conclusion
Again, Orochi’s the guy you want to go for if you want to just start doing consistent Arena/League perfect streaks. However, if you aren’t really shooting for rank, he’s not necessary at all. More inline, he instead becomes a waste due to how he’s literally only good for Player vs. AI in all honesty. He is great at his job, with much improved striker passives to boot that boosts his PvE potential.
But his entire HP regeneration is wasted in Live PvP due to how nobody really gives a shit about what their HP is in that mode. Nor is it well off in PvE due to how some characters in the same color (Ignis or Nameless) or type (Kazuya, 03 Terry, NESTS Kyo) are better in PvE. If you’re looking for a great Arena/League character? Congrats, you found him. If you’re looking for a all-star? Look somewhere else.
