Krizalid 99 is a Red Balanced Fighter that is originally part of the KOF 99 roster.

OVERVIEW

Overview

Krizalid has a “berserker” Leader Skill. He gives balanced fighters 25% Atk and 15% HP, but also gives 20% more Atk when HP of a balanced fighter goes down to 50% or lower. This is pretty much a decent leader skill if you don’t really care about HP.

But at the same time, this kinda really sucks if you are planning to bring him to Arena/League as you are gipped out of 4/9th’s of your true atk value. His normal attack string is pretty janky, but is generally a mediocre string befitting of the generation 1/2-ish FES characters.

Krizalid’s core passive has Tri-buff of HP/Atk/Def, a 20% power gauge increase and a projectile skill damage increase passive. It’s all around a near-optimal passive core set except for the burn damage reduction. His unique passives are weird, as he is literally a berserker in terms of his uniqueness. He gains 50% power gauge alongside a entire CD reset whenever his HP goes below 40%.

This is a VERY strong thing to have in the live PvP environment due to how you can abuse this very easily for desperation moves. The cooldown is 30 seconds, meaning you can delay the fight easily to get more of this to proc. Not to mention that this passive will proc the instant you fight in the next round to how your HP is below 40%. Krizalid’s second unique passive increases active skill damage by 45% and also reduces critical damage taken by 50% when HP is below 60%. So Krizalid at 100%? Joke. Krizalid at 40% in Live PvP? Better kill that boy as soon as possible.

Skill

Krizalid has a decent CD average time of 11 seconds alongside some pretty good damage percentages that near 725%. Combined with the 45% skill damage increase and these skills go off pretty damn well. Skill 1 is a standard air juggle with nothing else to really talk about. It gives Krizalid a 35% Defense buff and reduces Typhon’s Rage CD by 0.5 seconds.

It’s not bad, but not really the stand-out part of his skillset. Skill 2 is Krizalid’s bread and butter. Typhon’s Rage basically can OTG, act as a huge hitbox buffer and also act as a punish for roll-heavy people. It gives a 27% attack power and disables dodge for 4 seconds when it lands. Combine this skill with others alongside when Krizalid is under 60% HP and you got a monster of a skill.

Skill 3 is the jankiest of Krizalid’s skills. It’s a pass-through skill, which means it is VERY leaky due to how sometimes hits can land but the opponent ends up behind Krizalid instead of in front of him. Krizalid gets a 0.6s reduction on Typhon’s rage and also super armor for 3 seconds. It’s not a bad skill for Live PvP. And yeah, that’s generally it. The biggest part you should realize is that I’m talking mostly about Live PvP… Which is Krizalid’s biggest boon.

Conclusion

Krizalid is a niche like Orochi. But Krizalid excels at Live PvP, as he has a bunch of passives that needs him to be below a certain HP threshold. In Live PvP, you don’t really care about your HP value being under 100%, so you don’t really have to give half a shit about being hit.

This REALLY makes you appreciate what Krizalid can do. I would even keep him as a back-up in Arena/League in case your point-man like Orochi or Zero gets absolutely dunked on by a Jin with Tekken set or something. Hey, you’ll have a bad time, but at least at 40% HP you can easily comeback. Krizalid’s a very big niche that really isn’t wanted in Arena/League or PvE, but he’s damn amazing in live PvP. Would recommend if you really plan on going serious when Championships get here in NA.
